When you read an article on a Friday morning saying that Baguio is experiencing the coldest temperature in the past ~50 years, the only logical thing to do is to spontaneously go to Baguio on that same weekend – which was also perfect as a getaway for Yza’s birthday. No preps, no plans because planning is for the weak. =)
After spending two lovely days at the Pearl Farm Beach Resort, Eliel and I used the rest of the time to see a bit of Davao before heading back to Manila.
Because
I chose to procrastinate and am writing this several months later, the details
I remember are a bit hazy.haha
From
the Pearl Farm Resort, we took the hotel service back to the city. After losing
a lot of money in an expensive resort (well worth it, though), we planned to
spend the remaining nights in a budget-friendly place (a.k.a. our usual type of
travel accommodation). After scouring the internet (mainly, Trip Advisor and Agoda), we
found the best place for us - Ponce Suites.
Ponce
Suites is a cross between a hostel and an art gallery. It is owned by the family of Filipino artist Kublai Millan.
His works are not only displayed all over the hostel, but around Davao, too. One of his prominent creations is the big durian
sculpture that greets everyone at the Davao airport.
Spontaneous Davao Weekend

When you get a free roundtrip ticket to anywhere in the Philippines, you book a flight that would take you the farthest, right? Well maybe not, but that's what E and I did. =p On our anniversary month (September 2013 -- 6 yearssssss), off to Davao we flew. :) All because a few months ago, we volunteered to be bumped off to the next flight in exchange for free roundtrip tickets. We've already done this a couple of times before. (We've learned that it's the easiest way to score free flights. Haha)
We scheduled this vacation early on, but we never really planned anything. What we knew for sure was that we wanted to: 1.)spend our first two days at the Pearl Farm Beach Resort, 2.) visit the Momfort bat sanctuary and 3.) eat a lot of durian and durian-flavored anything. The rest of our 4-day vacation was up for negotiation. So we made a reservation at the Pearl Farm via Agoda, showed up, and left everything to fate. It turned out to be the best decision we've made. It was all very stress-free and spontaneous.
Sharing with you the pretty photos that Eliel took :)
Pearl Farm Love
We had so many activities lined up last September to celebrate 6 years of being together – too many, in this post alone, already a hundred! (hehe. sorry, corny).
(Check out “Six. Still a Perfect Mix. Nothing to Fix.” for a rundown of the month-long activities.)
One of them was visiting The Hundred Islands. We have been looking for the perfect time for this field trip and finally be able to cross this off our Magagandang Tanawin list of places. It was just in the most opportune time that Yza had to open a Payless Store in Robinsons Place Pangasinan around mid-September – the stars aligned nicely!
Seventy-two Months. Hundred Islands.
"Can't count the years on one hand, that we've been together..."
First line pa lang, jackpot na. This song just perfectly describes where our relationship is now so we decided to cover this for our 6th anniversary post.
And yes, we are still into each other. Even after all this time. <3

Our anniversary was a month long celebration -- there was a treat for the eyes (travel), the ears (music) and the tummy (food).
We went to Davao during the first weekend of September (Pearl Farm Beach Resort and around Davao City) and Pangasinan last weekend. Watch out for the photos!
Today, a day before our anniversary, we started with recording our music cover above (yes, go ahead, scroll up and watch it again. hehe).
And to cap it all off, we indulged with food! First stop was Apartment 1B, One Rockwell.

Cleaned up my phone and found some photos I haven't posted. A lot of them were from the random dinners and lunches E and I had. Sharing a couple of places we liked. :)Bamm
This little restaurant at The Collective serves German sausages and is a good place to chill on a Friday night. It's right beside the more famous Wingman. We've already eaten dinner (we went to The Collective to get mochi ice cream!) but I was craving for something salty, so we popped in and ordered one of their best sellers, the Currywurst. It would probably have been great with beer, but we don't really drink much, so we had Mountain Dew instead. :P
Foodie Dates: Bamm and Manila Maki
A lot has changed since our last cover 10 months ago (I can't believe it has been that long, what happened to U.S.??). I had my long hair finally cut (8 months ago) after almost 2 years of not going to a barber shop or a salon while Yza also started sporting bangs for more than 6 months now. Also, Yza transferred to a new apartment which made her really happy -- she now has the luxury to design and decorate her own room as she pleases.

ABOUT US
HI! We're Eliel and Yza.
Welcome to our blog!
We are newlyweds trying to figure out life.
We've been together for 9 years before getting married in 2016.
On our third year as a couple, we started this blog to document our adventures, milestones, dates, and random thoughts. Throughout the years, it has mostly become our travel diary. Because we're very forgetful people, this has helped us relive some of our favorite memories. Now that we're married, we're on a new adventure and we can't wait for what's in store for us.
Someday, we plan to compile these blog posts into a coffee-table book in case one of us gets Alzheimer's (The Notebook) or amnesia (50 First Dates). *knocks on wood*
